Daring Daylight Scooter Theft at Davenport Target

Davenport, FL. - In a brazen daylight theft, a man made off with a high-value electric scooter from the Target store in Posner Park, Davenport. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is now on the hunt for the suspect, whose audacious act was caught on the store’s surveillance cameras.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., loss prevention officers were alerted to the theft of a GoTrax scooter, valued at $580.00, by the suspect who cleverly manipulated store systems to his advantage. According to the officers, the man was observed on video surveillance using a shopping cart to carry out the scooter. In a calculated move, he removed the barcode sticker from a WHL scooter, priced at a mere $80.00, and attached it to the more expensive GoTrax scooter before proceeding to self-checkout, effectively duping the system.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has released a description of the suspect in hopes that members of the public can assist in his identification. He is described as a white male, donned in gray pants, a gray and white shirt, red and white shoes, a yellow and white hat, and sunglasses—a distinctive ensemble that they hope will lead to a quick identification.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward. Detective Hartle can be contacted at (863) 298-2896 or via email at chartle@polksheriff.org.
