Volusia County, FL — According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, in a dramatic high-speed pursuit this morning, Motor Officer Riera of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at 91mph in a 65mph zone on SR-44. The driver, identified as Mario Fois Morillo of Deltona, fled northbound onto I-95, leading officers on a chase that ended on the Dunlawton off-ramp.


The pursuit began when Officer Riera clocked the motorcycle speeding on SR-44 and signaled for the driver to pull over. Instead of complying, Morillo accelerated, heading towards I-95. The situation escalated as Morillo continued to evade law enforcement at high speeds.


The Volusia Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Port Orange Police Department, quickly coordinated their efforts to intercept the fleeing motorcyclist. A deputy and a Port Orange officer successfully located and stopped Morillo on the Dunlawton off-ramp, bringing the dangerous chase to a safe conclusion.

Mario Fois Morillo was arrested and charged with Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, and Operating a Motorcycle Without a Motorcycle Endorsement.

"We continue to work to combat speeding and reckless driving in our city, especially on our main thoroughfares," stated a representative from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. "Today's incident underscores the importance of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our roads and the well-being of our community."
