Fatal Hernando County Crash on Tundra Drive



Hernando County, FL — Tragedy struck late Monday night on June 3, 2024, as a vehicle crash on Tundra Drive claimed the life of an 18-year-old female passenger. The incident occurred at approximately 10:06 PM when the driver of an Infiniti Q50 failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection of Brookridge Central Boulevard.


The vehicle, traveling eastbound on Tundra Drive, veered off the roadway, causing it to enter the shoulder. The car then rotated, overturned, and came to rest upright in a retention pond. During the violent crash, a passenger was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.


Details of those involved in the crash are as follows:


  • Driver: A 17-year-old male from New Port Richey sustained minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

  • Passenger: An 18-year-old male from New Port Richey also suffered minor injuries and was not wearing a seat belt.

  • Passenger: A 19-year-old male from New Port Richey incurred minor injuries and was seat belted.

  • Passenger: The 18-year-old female from New Port Richey, who tragically lost her life, was not wearing a seat belt.

  • Passenger: A 19-year-old female from New Port Richey received minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt.


Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash and have emphasized the importance of seat belt use to prevent such tragedies in the future.
