Fatal Hit-and-Run Shuts Down Colonial Drive: Troopers Hunt for Driver of Silver Honda Civic

Orange County, FL. - According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Troopers are currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on August 18th at approximately 10:34 P.M. at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Good Homes Road in Orlando, Orange County. Preliminary evidence indicates the crash involved a BMW 3 Series (possibly between 2015-2017) and a pedestrian.
8/19/24 UPDATE:
The pedestrian has been identified as a 37-year-old female from Pine Hills, FL.
Unfortunately, she was not in a marked crosswalk and was walking across the eastbound lanes of Colonial Drive, east of Good Homes Road, when she was struck by the front left side of the BMW. The driver fled the scene, leaving the woman critically injured. She was transported to Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The victim's next of kin has been notified.
Troopers discovered a vehicle part at the scene, and believe the BMW involved may have damage to its front left fog light and/or headlight. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is asking for the public's help in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is urged to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
