Fatal Motorcycle Crash on SR-52

Pasco County, FL – A fatal accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on the night of June 2, 2024, on SR-52, claiming the life of a 62-year-old motorcyclist from Hudson. The incident happened at approximately 9:30 PM, just west of Pine Forest Drive.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the motorcyclist was riding a Harley Davidson eastbound in the center lane of SR-52 when he collided with a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser had been disabled from a previous crash involving a Hyundai sedan driven by a 46-year-old woman from Miami.

Upon impact, the motorcycle became airborne and landed in the inside lane, where it was struck by a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 16-year-old male from Hudson, who was also traveling eastbound. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries at the scene, while the other drivers involved suffered only minor injuries. The Miami woman was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, and the teenage driver of the Passat did not require hospitalization.

Kathleen Ann Horner, 67, of New Port Richey, who was driving the disabled PT Cruiser, was later arrested by FHP troopers for DUI. Horner was taken to the Pasco County Jail, where she provided a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol content of 0.166, more than twice the legal limit.

This tragic event underscores the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of road safety. The FHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
