Hudson, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on US-41 north of Five Palms Lane Friday evening, claiming the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist from Spring Hill.
According to reports, a 40-year-old Hudson man was driving an Oldsmobile van southbound on US-41. At approximately 10:10 PM, the driver attempted to turn left into a private driveway, directly into the path of a northbound Yamaha motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, who has not yet been named, was unable to avoid the van and collided with the vehicle. Despite immediate emergency response, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary reports indicate that the van's left turn was the critical factor leading to the collision.
The identities of both individuals involved have been withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Hudson man sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
