Groveland Woman Dies in Fiery Crash on Ag Road

Lake County, FL - Early this morning, a fatal crash claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman from Groveland. The accident occurred around 12:20 AM at the intersection of Ag Road and Brantley Road in Lake County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the victim was driving a 1994 Chevy Blazer eastbound on Ag Road when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. The impact caused the SUV to catch fire. Despite the quick response of emergency services, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim, pending notification of her next of kin. It is also currently unknown whether she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
