Polk County, FL – A dramatic high-speed chase in the early hours of this morning culminated in the arrest of 41-year-old Kenneth Albert Fike of Port St. Lucie. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident began at 2:13 AM when troopers spotted a speeding 2005 Ducati 800 Super Sport motorcycle on US-92, west of Berkley Road.


Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Fike accelerated and fled, reaching speeds over 110 MPH on various local roads. The pursuit intensified until Fike entered Winter Lake Road, where he briefly slowed down and discarded a backpack onto the roadway before continuing to evade the authorities.


The chase concluded when Fike rode into a gas station parking lot, dismounted his motorcycle, and surrendered to the troopers. Upon searching the discarded backpack, officers discovered Fike's wallet, a 9mm handgun, cannabis, drug paraphernalia including needles, a scale, and a bong, as well as methamphetamine.

Fike was promptly arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. He faces multiple charges including:


  • Fleeing and Eluding

  • Driving While License Suspended

  • Possession of Firearm by a Felon

  • Possession of Ammunition by a Felon

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Cannabis

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
