Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fights and Controls Major Scrapyard Blaze


Hillsborough County, FL – A significant fire erupted at a repair and scrapyard located at 8012 78th Street in Riverview, prompting a rapid response from the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. The fire, which broke out this afternoon, was successfully contained within 30 minutes by the dedicated fire crews, with no reported injuries.


The emergency dispatch center received multiple calls at approximately 2:18 PM from individuals reporting the fire. The first unit on the scene, Engine 1, observed heavy flames and smoke emanating from several semi-trailers in the yard of the business.


Firefighting teams, including E1, E15, Q12, E16, E37, E33, L46, R12, R33, BC3, BC8, A46, along with an investigator and the Emergency Dispatch Center, worked diligently to bring the situation under control. Their coordinated effort ensured that the fire was contained swiftly, preventing it from spreading further and causing more extensive damage.


Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, either among the fire rescue personnel or civilians. The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental, originating from sparks created during metalwork activities in the scrapyard.


The prompt and effective response of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue teams highlights their readiness and capability to handle emergency situations efficiently.
