In a somber turn of events, the normally quiet streets of Leesburg were disrupted by the echo of gunfire last night. At around 8:45 PM on December 27, 2023, Leesburg police officers rushed to 1906 W. Main Street, following reports of a shooting. The scene that unfolded there was one of immediate concern and swift action.

Upon arrival, the officers, accompanied by the ever-ready teams from Leesburg Fire-Rescue and Lake EMS, found a man, the victim of the shooting, lying on the ground in dire need of help. Despite their rapid response and the victim's urgent transportation to UF Health/Leesburg Hospital, the wounds proved too severe. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead, leaving behind a community in shock and grief.

As the area was cordoned off, the seriousness of the situation set in. Leesburg detectives and their CSI unit delved into the night, gathering evidence under the solemn watch of the flashing police lights. Their investigation, fueled by witness testimonies, led to a significant breakthrough. A name emerged from the shadows of this unfortunate event - 19-year-old Kevin Harrison, identified as the suspect.

In response, a no-bond arrest warrant was promptly issued for Harrison. The Leesburg Police Department, now in a race against time, is actively searching for him and has called upon the community's assistance. A photograph of Harrison has been circulated to aid in his apprehension.

This incident has sent ripples of distress across Leesburg. The police are appealing to anyone with information about the shooting or Kevin Harrison's whereabouts to step forward. Contact can be made directly with the Leesburg Police Department at 352.787.2121 or through local law enforcement agencies.
