Motorcyclist Killed in Tragic Crash on I-95 Exit Ramp

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a devastating incident on Saturday, June 9, 2024, claimed the life of a 38-year-old motorcyclist from Port Orange. The accident occurred at approximately 2:59 PM on the northbound exit ramp of I-95 to State Road 400 (Beville Road).

According to witnesses, the rider was on a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-9R and was reportedly passing traffic on the outside paved shoulder of the exit ramp at mile marker 260A. The motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected to the left, which led to the motorcycle running off the roadway and striking two trees.

The impact was severe enough to eject the rider from the motorcycle, who was then pronounced dead at the scene. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Authorities have not yet notified the next of kin.

The crash has resulted in a roadblock on the northbound I-95 exit ramp to SR-400, and traffic adjustments are expected as investigations continue. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of unsafe driving behaviors and the importance of adhering to traffic laws and safety measures.

Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
