Tragic Early Morning Collision on Lake Mack Drive Claims Life of DeLand Pedestrian

Lake County, FL – A tragic accident occurred early this morning at the intersection of Lake Mack Drive and Evergreen Drive, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The incident took place at approximately 5:01 AM.
A 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a 35-year-old male from DeLand, FL, was traveling northbound on Lake Mack Drive. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the incident. A one-year-old male passenger from DeLand, also secured in a child restraint seat, was unharmed.
The pedestrian, a 51-year-old male from DeLand, FL, was walking northbound in the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by the pickup truck. The front right side of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian. Emergency services quickly transported the pedestrian to Advent Health DeLand, where he was pronounced deceased.
The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of the pedestrian’s next of kin, who have since been informed of the tragedy. Both the driver and the young passenger of the pickup truck remained on the scene and were not transported to the hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to this fatal collision. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
