Update: Pinellas County Hit & Run Crash on 62nd Avenue Results in Fatality

Pinellas Park, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), tragedy struck on the night of July 14, 2024, when a bicyclist was hit by a dark-colored Toyota sedan while traveling eastbound on 62nd Avenue and 42nd Street in Pinellas Park. The driver fled the scene, leaving the 20-year-old St. Petersburg man with serious injuries. Despite being rushed to an area hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries on July 24th, as reported by hospital staff.


The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) recovered debris from the crash site, including an emblem from a Toyota vehicle (see attached photo). However, the identity of the driver remains unknown, and no further updates on the incident have been released.


Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. Tips can be reported by calling FHP (347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.


The community is reminded of the importance of coming forward with any information that might assist in the investigation and help bring justice to the victim and his grieving family.
