WINTER HAVEN, FL - A joyous Christmas Day turned sour for a teenage girl in Winter Haven when her bicycle was stolen while she briefly visited a local store. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is now actively seeking information from the public to help solve this disheartening crime.
The incident occurred on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Circle K store located at 1108 Spirit Lake Road. The victim, a local teenager, had parked her bike outside the store and entered for less than ten minutes. In that brief window, an unidentified suspect took the opportunity to steal her bicycle.
The suspect, described as an adult black male, was last seen wearing khaki pants, a camouflage T-shirt, and white shoes. After stealing the bike, which is predominantly black, white, and blue, he was spotted at the nearby Hungry Howies. There, he removed a set of bike pegs from the front tires before fleeing westbound.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office, under case number 23-51947, is leading the investigation. They are urging anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward. Detective Paul, handling the case, can be directly contacted at (863) 944-9807 or via email at cpaul2@polksheriff.org.
