Orange County, FL – On July 14, 2024, around 11:00 A.M., a hit-and-run crash on I-4 westbound at mile marker 67 left a young woman shaken but not seriously injured. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) quickly responded to the scene.
Crash Details:
• Vehicle 1: A 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by a yet unidentified individual.
• Vehicle 2: A 2016 Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 20-year-old female.
The incident began when the Camaro, traveling in the center lane, tried to change lanes. Unfortunately, this maneuver caused the front right of the Camaro to collide with the left rear of the Hyundai. The impact sent the Hyundai off the road and it overturned on the right shoulder.
Aftermath:
• The three young men in the Camaro fled the scene on foot. They were later picked up by an unknown gray or silver vehicle.
• Witnesses described these men as black or Hispanic, likely in their early 20s.
• The driver of the Hyundai was thankfully not seriously injured and did not need to be taken to the hospital.
Public Assistance Requested:
The FHP is asking anyone with information about the crash to call *FHP (*347) or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Photos and video of the suspects have been released to help identify them.
A Reminder from the FHP:
Leaving the scene of a crash that results in property damage, injury, or death is against the law. If you find yourself in a crash, it’s crucial to stay put, call for help, and follow these steps:
1. Ensure everyone’s safety and stay calm.
2. If possible, move to the side of the road, take your keys if you get out, and stay in a safe area.
3. Check on others involved and call 911 if anyone is injured or if a vehicle can’t be moved.
4. If there are no serious injuries or significant damage, exchange information with the other driver. Take photos if you can’t write everything down and file a report online if needed.
